Overview

The IMOD REU is a summer research program that provides opportunities for participants from 2-yr or 4-yr institutions to engage in authentic research across a broad range of disciplines, including chemistry, physics, materials science & engineering, and electrical & computer engineering. The research within our center focuses on theoretical and practical application of optoelectronic devices that generate, sense, and control light. IMOD seeks to advance the synthesis of highly precise materials and the integration of different materials into optoelectronic devices and systems for the improvement and development of current and future technologies The program is a nine-to-ten week immersive research project in an IMOD-sponsored lab. Participants of the program will: Learn skills to engage in optoelectronic research Engage in professional development Grow their scientific network Participate in local and center-wide research presentations

Research topics

optoelectronics, perovskite, quantum dots, QLED, QISE, synthesis, characterization, physics, materials science, chemical engineering, nanomaterials, quantum, engineering, manufacturing, integration, photoluminescence, quantum mechanics, polymers, thin films, machine learning, excitons, semiconductors, chemistry, colloidal synthesis, electrical engineering, computer engineering

Eligibility

This program is open to U.S. citizens or permanent residents. Applicants must have completed one or two years of college (2yr or 4yr). Students must be 18 years old by the beginning of the REU. Please note: This program prioritizes students from non-IMOD partnering locations (see IMOD website for complete list of IMOD institutions; www.imod-stc.org) and encourages students from diverse backgrounds who would benefit from a transformative experience and are interested in exploring the field.
