The Keck Geology Consortium REU offers several opportunities for research experiences. Each Gateway opportunity is designed for students with different interests and has different dates and locations: Gateway Projects, appropriate for rising sophomores and some rising juniors, explore relevant research questions at the intersection of science and society. Applicants to Gateway Projects should be interested in using scientific methods to explore questions about the natural world, but need not have extensive coursework or experience. Students work as a team during a five-week block during summer and attend a professional conference together during the following academic year. The Keck Geology Consortium REU will offer two Gateway Projects during 2026-27. Completed applications to these opportunities require essay responses to five questions and a recommendation. Your recommender should be a faculty member or teacher who knows you in an academic context. At least several weeks before the application deadline, confirm that your recommender is willing to provide a recommendation, and provide them with a link to the Recommendation Form for 2026 Keck REU Applications. Deadline: 16 February, 2026 It is the applicant's responsibility to ensure all application materials, including faculty recommendation, are submitted before the deadline.
