The University of Minnesota, along with NSF, is organizing an AI for Earth summer school, which will take place in the Summer of 2026. The program is eight weeks, from Monday, Jun 8th to Friday, Jul 31st. The first six weeks will be virtual, and the last two weeks will be in person at our campus. The goal is to introduce students to the potential of AI/ML research for addressing environmental challenges.

Eligible students need to satisfy these conditions: Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident; Will be enrolled in an undergraduate program during the fall semester following the summer program; Will not have already earned a BS or BA degree before the summer program; Available full-time (20 hours/week, during the seven-week virtual sessions and 40 hours/week during the in-person week); Have a basic programming background in Python; Highly motivated to work on environmental problems and apply ML to solve them; and Satisfy the background qualifications listed on the following website: https://cse.umn.edu/cs/ai-earth-program
