Overview

The BIO-PREP program admits up to 15 students per year to prepare for internships and careers in the field of biotechnology. This program consists of a semester-long career explorations and technical skills course, where students will learn valuable non-technical career skills (interviewing, networking, personal branding, etc) and technical skills to be successful in biotech (lab math, pipetting, PCR, etc). Students will have the opportunity to earn industry-recognized micro-credentials and digital badges to add to their resumes and LinkedIn profiles. Students will also participate in professional programming such as industry site visits, lunch-and-learns, and career panels. Students will have help preparing for and finding an internship which, if they successfully obtain, will be paid an hourly wage via ExLENT grant funding. Students are expected to enroll in a 0-credit summer course paired with the internship, and present their work and experiences at the Webster University RAD Conference upon completion of the program. When applying for this opportunity, please also place yourself on the waitlist for BIOL 3600. If you are admitted to the program, you will be removed from the waitlist and enrolled in the course.
