Overview

The Kent State University Summer REU in Mathematics invites undergraduate students to participate in an 8-week research experience. For Summer 2026, nine students will work on one of three research projects: Graphs and Groups (led by Mark Lewis), Lattice Point Geometry (led by Jenya Soprunova), and Differential Equations and Applications (led by Fedor Nazarov and Peter Gordon). Participants will gain hands-on experience in mathematical research, develop problem-solving and communication skills, and present their results at the end of the program. Please submit your CV, unofficial transcripts (including your Fall semester or quarter grades), request two letters of recommendation, and respond to three questions in the application form.

Research topics

Algebra, geometry, analysis, differential equations
