Overview

The NSF NeXUS Facility provides researchers around the world with access to ultrafast experimental capabilities to study the dynamics of chemicals and materials on the time scale of attoseconds to femtoseconds. NeXUS is hosted at The Ohio State University and has faculty collaborators conducting both experimental and theoretical research. In this REU program, you will work with faculty, postdoctoral, and graduate student researchers to (1) design and execute experiments to advance knowledge of chemical or material dynamics; and/or (2) develop innovative tools and techniques to analyze or predict chemical, material, and optical properties. You will work with NeXUS research staff to understand the unique experiments NeXUS enables and conduct experiments using it.

Research topics

Ultrafast, lasers, physical chemistry, chemical physics, AMO physics, optics, materials, condensed matter physics

Eligibility

U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, or permanent residents enrolled in an undergraduate degree program in chemistry, physics, materials science, electrical/computer engineering, or optical engineering. Ohio State and NeXUS are committed to the full inclusion of individuals with disabilities. The ADA Coordinator’s Office is a resource and referral point for disability-related information, services and resources.
