Overview

The Chemistry Department at Oklahoma State University will host 10 undergraduate students for a 10-week program that will provide the students with an interdisciplinary research experience. The department consists of a diverse group of faculty, which currently has other sources of support from NSF, NIH, DOE, USDA and others. The faculty mentors will be working directly with the students to provide a wide range of research and professional development training. Areas of research emphasis include materials chemistry, inorganic chemistry, medicinal/pharmaceutical chemistry, advanced spectroscopies, chemical biology, catalysis, environmental chemistry, bioanalytical chemistry, and computational chemistry. The program will allow student participants to make use of state-of-the-art facilities and instrumentation while working on important problems in Chemistry. Students will be working on projects that are appropriate for their skill level and designed to promote their interest in the chemical sciences. Professional development training will expose the students to elements of graduate school and increase their awareness of career opportunities within the field of Chemistry. The program will encourage participation by students from underrepresented groups and undergraduate students from primarily undergraduate institutions and community college.
