✈️ Spend Your Summer Conducting Research on Electrified Aircraft in Brazil! 🔋 NSF-Funded International Research Experience for Students (IRES): U.S.–Brazil Are you a STEM undergraduate or graduate student looking to expand your research experience and global perspective? This 8–10 week summer program, funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF), supports a collaborative research exchange between Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) and the Instituto Tecnológico de Aeronáutica (ITA) in São José dos Campos, Brazil. Students will work alongside Brazilian faculty and researchers to tackle challenges in thermal management of electrified aircraft, one of the most pressing issues in aviation today. Students will: Collaborate with researchers at ITA’s Applied Thermal Engineering Laboratory (LETA) and ERAU’s Thermal Science Laboratory (TSL). Gain hands-on research experience in next-generation energy systems for electric and hybrid-electric aircraft. Participate in cultural activities, lab visits, and professional networking. Receive provided housing and a competitive stipend. Applications open each fall for the following summer. The program will run annually through 2028, sending three cohorts of five U.S. students over three years. Join a growing community of researchers addressing the future of sustainable aviation!
