Overview

Are you ready to explore the exciting world of Data Analytics and gain hands-on research experience? ***** Fill out the form ***** https://forms.office.com/r/7csjrpahnk Marshall University proposes a 10-week summer REU program focused on Data Analytics. The REU: URDA aims to provide 30 undergraduates, especially first-generation, female, underrepresented minorities, and those with limited research experience, with transformative research opportunities. While recruitment will be national, the emphasis is on students from resource-limited institutions in Appalachia, particularly West Virginia, Kentucky, and Ohio. The objectives are to: Increase diversity in STEM by encouraging women, underrepresented minorities, veterans, and first-generation students to pursue degrees and careers in Data Science. Train participants in analytic methods, linking classroom knowledge to real-world applications. Enhance participants' research creativity. Offer comprehensive mentoring, workshops, and professional training to support student success. This REU: URDA is centered on data analytics, which addresses the urgent need to prepare skilled data scientists for a data-driven world. Participants will engage with research methods and tools, focusing on seven areas: Predictive, Descriptive, Diagnostic, Risk, Threat, Behavior, and Visual Analytics. This broad thematic approach advances industry-relevant knowledge and enriches undergraduate research experiences by equipping students with essential skills and confidence to thrive in their academic and professional careers. The program’s activities will also generate insights into how to enhance student engagement in Data Science.
